Beyond Power Transfer: The Smart EVSE as a Data Gateway
Unlike passive units, a Smart EVSE functions as an active network node bridging the grid, vehicle, and operator. Its core value is bidirectional communication—transmitting telemetry and receiving real-time commands. This transforms charging into a controllable asset through three technical layers:
Communication Layer (EVSE WiFi / 4G / Ethernet):
Connects hardware to the internet to ensure the unit is never isolated. This enables remote firmware updates (OTA) and real-time status reporting to prevent downtime.
Protocol Layer (OCPP EVSE Standards):
Utilizes OCPP 1.6J to standardize language with the Central Management System (CMS). This ensures cross-vendor hardware compatibility on a single platform for unified billing and authorization.
Interaction Layer (EVSE App Interface):
Provides the control surface for facility managers. Through the mobile application, operators can configure amperage limits, schedule off-peak charging, and visualize energy consumption (kWh) for cost allocation.

Smart EVSE Connectivity: Built for Any Environment
Reliable data transmission is the backbone of a Smart EVSE. Our tri-mode architecture ensures stability in every scenario, from residential garages to commercial fleets.
1. Bluetooth (BLE) – For Offline Setup
Designed for installers. It allows instant configuration via the EVSE App even in underground locations with no internet signal.
2. EVSE WiFi – For Low-Cost Monitoring
Leverages existing local networks to enable remote control and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates without recurring data fees.
3. 4G / Ethernet – For Commercial Uptime
Provides a dedicated, secure link for OCPP management. This ensures 99.9% uptime for payment processing, independent of local WiFi reliability.
OCPP EVSE: The Standard for Open Management
Scalability requires interoperability. Our hardware is built on the OCPP 1.6J (Open Charge Point Protocol) standard, ensuring it acts as a universal asset rather than a closed system.
1. Vendor-Neutral Integration
The OCPP EVSE framework allows you to connect our hardware to any 3rd-party Central Management System (CMS). You are free to switch software providers without replacing the chargers.
2. Automated Billing & Authorization
Supports secure RFID authentication and remote start/stop commands. This enables seamless integration with payment gateways for public charging revenue.
3. Smart Energy Management
Unlock advanced features like Smart Charging Profiles. The CMS can dynamically adjust the output of the Smart EVSE based on grid load, preventing costly power overages.

Complete Control with the EVSE App
Hardware is only half the equation. The EVSE App provides an intuitive interface that puts powerful energy management directly into the user’s hands.
1. Smart Scheduling
Users can set charging windows to align with off-peak electricity tariffs. This simple “set and forget” feature significantly reduces operational costs for homeowners and fleets.
2. Real-Time Visualization
View live charging status, current amperage, and voltage. The app tracks historical kWh usage, providing transparent data for cost analysis or reimbursement.
3. Remote Configuration
Need to adjust the current limit? Facility managers can remotely modify the max amperage of the Smart EVSE instantly, adapting to changing site power availability without a site visit.

Technical Brief: 4 Key Functions of Smart EVSE Infrastructure
1. Load Management via Smart EVSE
Smart evse units utilize Dynamic Load Balancing (DLB) to regulate power distribution at the circuit level. The system monitors the building’s total current in real-time and adjusts the output amperage delivered to connected vehicles. This mechanism prevents grid overloads and allows for the installation of multiple charging stations within the existing electrical capacity. Consequently, this eliminates the requirement for transformer upgrades or increased peak demand thresholds.
2. Interoperability via OCPP EVSE Standards
The ocpp evse standard defines the communication protocol between the charging hardware and the Central Management System (CMS). Compliance with this protocol ensures that the hardware functions with any third-party network software. This technical standardization prevents vendor lock-in by enabling operators to switch backend providers without replacing the physical infrastructure. It ensures data portability and long-term hardware compatibility.
3. Connectivity via EVSE WiFi Modules
Evse wifi modules transmit data through local wireless networks rather than cellular connections or hardwired cables. This configuration removes the need for monthly 4G data subscriptions and physical Ethernet installation. The connection supports Over-the-Air (OTA) firmware updates and remote error log retrieval. This functionality allows technicians to diagnose system faults remotely, reducing the frequency of on-site maintenance dispatch.
4. Data Management via the EVSE App
The evse app functions as a user interface for access control and operational logging. It records specific metrics, including kWh consumption, session duration, and time-of-use timestamps. The software allows users to configure charging schedules to align with off-peak utility rates. Additionally, the application manages user authentication protocols, restricting equipment access to authorized personnel only.
